Controlling spruce bark beetles
The spruce bark beetles have caused massive damage across Sweden for the past few years. In 2018, The Swedish Forest Agency estimated that 3-4 million cubic meters of woodland were destroyed and has only gotten worse since then. Because it is time-consuming to inspect forests on foot, Crowddroning by GLOBHE is sending out drones to capture high-resolution earth observation data to inspect damaged trees to help and get an overview of the forest industry. The data is then rapidly processed through a dedicated AI model developed by Arboair, which automatically identifies the infected trees. The whole process takes 20 times less time and is 50% cheaper than traditional methods.
