Working toward a sustainable future, together.
East Africa Business Lead
We're looking for a Kigali-based, East Africa Business Lead who wants to help create a more sustainable future with high-resolution earth observation data.
GLOBHE is scaling and this is a key position for us to be able to reach our ambitious goals on the continent. It starts off as a one-year engagement with the possibility to extend with another year. Will you be the one flying with us?
What you'll do - key responsibilities
You will spearhead our growth in Africa with a particular focus on East Africa. You will have a key sales role in our organization. You will not only be THE sales leader on the ground but also act as 'the spider in the web' as you set up a local 'drone-data hub'
Your main mission will be to establish the company's local presence and regional reach and drive engagement amongst local and international actors of all sizes and across industries. This is a very sales-driven role.
But don't worry, you won't achieve all of that alone. In fact, you will be supported by our team out of Stockholm, Sweden. The successful candidate will sit at Norrsken Tech Hub Kigali. Fluency in English is required, and French is a big plus. You will report to GLOBHE's Head of Business & Sales.
- You will focus on GLOBHE's vision to sell/acquire high-resolution earth observation drone data.
- You will target local and international companies (startups, SMEs, corporations) but also local, regional, and international NGOs, local universities, as well as local and national governments.
- You will scout the region from Norrsken Kigali as it is uniquely placed and visited by both regional and international actors.
- You will own the complete customer journey - from prospecting to closing to managing the customer. You naturally will have full support from your manager in Sweden.
- You follow and track the progress of your own accounts through the use of GLOBHE's CRM.
- You will set up, with support from HQ, GLOBHE's 'drone-data hub' at Norrsken Kigali. In this part of the role, you will act as an 'engagement leader'. You will organize local events (min. 1 per quarter), inviting targeted companies, partners, industry experts, etc. You will become a thought leader in Rwanda and beyond.
Your profile
We are looking for an experienced entrepreneurial business leader - someone who hit the road running from day one.
We believe you have significant experience from an equivalent position and that you come with a background in a startup/scaleup environment. You are a born salesperson with a proven track record in generating new sales. We are looking for a hungry hunter. With your great personality and your innate communication abilities, you are an incredible networker who knows how to inspire and lead others in various contexts, across levels of any size and type of organization.
Change does not scare you - in fact, we believe you thrive on it. You can think on your feet and independently and always have input and experience to share. All in all, you are a doer who gets things done. Your peers are impressed by your positive energy and capability of seeing the bigger picture as well as paying attention to details. You seek guidance and assistance when needed, but are fine with taking your own responsibility and guiding yourself forward.
You also understand and value that working in a startup requires you to dig in when and where it's needed.
- Min. of 5 years of experience in a B2B Sales role in a tech startup ideally in a SaaS company.
- You have an exciting network of business contact you can tap into in Rwanda.
- Good problem-solving skills. You are a doer who gets 'shit done'. Of course, you have sufficient self-awareness to understand when to call in the cavalry for support.
- You can produce a lot of work, quickly (quality supersedes quantity). You are structured, flexible, curious, and nice to be around with.
- You have worked with CRM systems in the past - ideally HubSpot.
- Excellent communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages. French is not required but a big plus.
- Min. Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
- You naturally understand drones and the power of the data they provide.
What we offer
If you are looking for a challenging role in a fast-paced and purpose-driven environment, this is it. We are a startup in a growth phase and as such you have an opportunity to be part of an incredible journey. Competitive salary plus advantageous commissions on sales. We have also arranged for you to work out of Norrsken Kigali - THE place to be if you want to make a dent in the universe.
